Cornwall Author

Michael Darracotts new book proper Cornish childhood is a very interesting read, it tells of michael growing up in West Cornwall in the mid sixties, and what he got up to back then. Michael writes about the wonderful times he had with his family at Christmas time, and going to see the Mousehole Christmas lights.
The book covers tripe to Penzance and Truro and lands end, also other trips to St Ives Porthcurno Marazion to name just a few. He writes of his love for Newlyn and of course Jelperts ice cream, and about Newlyn fish market and pilchard works.
Towards the middle of the book Michael wrote about the bombing of the now infamous Torrey Canyon oil tanker, it was blown up in an attempt to stop the pollution of the cornish coastline, but it went wrong, Michael watched from high up on a Cornish cliff top as planes dropped bombs on the ship below.
